Rubber Mats

Rubber mats are an inexpensive option for covering a small portion of your flooring. The main benefit of using a rubber mat is that the rubber backing acts as a non-slip surface. If someone steps on the mat, their feet will not slide the mat across the floor causing them to fall. Being a small mat, they are easy to clean. The reasonable pricing of rubber mats makes it such that you can replace them without much trouble and also get a lot of them for other high traffic areas of your home.

Outdoor Rubber Mats

Outdoor rubber mats are made of a more durable material. The top fabric of the mat is an outdoor fabric, made to withstand the elements. Good places to put rubber mats are at an entry way to your home or on the steps going up to your door. You may also like to use one in your garage. It makes a great place to kneel on when working on the car.

Indoor Rubber Mats

Indoor rubber mats are made of a less durable top fabric than their outdoor counterparts. They are usually prettier to look at as well since they come in many different colours and patterns. Use indoor rubber mats for high traffic areas like front hallways, stairs, in front of the kitchen sink, and in the bathroom in front of the tub. All places where you are looking for a non-skid surface and or in need of protecting the floor underneath from additional wear.

Cleaning Rubber Mats

Cleaning a rubber mat is easy in that they are usually small enough to carry around and get the job done quickly. It is advisable to not put rubber mats in the washing machine or dryer since this will cause the rubber backing to deteriorate, fall off and even cause damage to your machines! If a light cleaning is required, take the rubber mat outside, hang it over a rail and beat it with a broom. This may be all that is needed to remove dust particles. If stains are in place, then using household cleaners, scrub the mat outdoors and use a scrub brush. Rinse out the mat using a hose.

Styles of Rubber Mats

As mentioned above, rubber mats come in all styles, colours, shapes, sizes and patterns. Outdoor rubber mats are most often seen in their common colours of black/charcoal, or a grass green. You can also purchase door mats with colourful prints and sayings on them. Indoor rubber mats also come in the same colours and patterns as outdoor ones, but you will find more of a selection available for them. Choose whatever suits your fancy because if you tire of it, they are usually cheap enough to replace according to whatever your whim!
