Rubber Grommets

By

Rubber grommets have a variety of uses. They can be used for protecting wires from sharp edges, helping to water proof a hole, protect and cover through holes, act as a shock absorber, help with noise control, or even as a spacer for holding screws in place.

When searching to buy the appropriate rubber grommets for your job, you will notice that there are various types available in the market.

Standard Rubber Grommets

Standard grommets come in an assortment of different inner diameters and widths, groove widths, outside diameters and thicknesses. You may find exactly what you are looking for with the offerings out there. If not, you can also order rubber grommets with custom specifications. There is usually a higher minimum order required for custom jobs than standard supply rubber grommets.

Military Standard Rubber Grommets

Military standard rubber grommets are grommets that are made from a hot-oil, and coolant resistant rubber material to a military standard. This type of rubber grommet is ordered by military organizations or sub-contractors who are doing work for them. The rubber is made of a specific composition which is resistant to ozone, high and low temperatures, oils and ultraviolet rays. Uses for military standard rubber grommets include sealing, electrical insulation, noise control and to minimize vibrations.

Vibration Mount Rubber Grommets

The typical use for vibration mount rubber grommets is for vibration and compression force protection, reduction of noise levels, sealing and electrical insulation. There are two ribs to a vibration mount rubber grommet. One side is thicker and is meant to be the vibration isolator.

Mounting Hole Rubber Grommets

Mounting hole rubber grommets are typically used for sealing, vibration isolation, noise control and electrical insulation. There are two flanges on these grommets as well. One side has a smaller diameter flange to enable easier insertion.

Other types of rubber grommets that are available are: compressor grommets, insulation grommets, multiple hole grommets, oval-shaped grommets, horse shoe grommets, extended neck grommets, and more.

Also available for rubber grommets is a specific tool that will help you to insert the grommet into where it is required to go. There is no longer a need for having to manually force a grommet in place by hand. Instead, you can now insert rubber grommets into position much more easily and accurately than in the past. Rubber grommet inserter tools are made to fit the specific size of the grommet being used.

Many industrial rubber manufacturers of rubber grommets are in place all around the world. Check for local distributors. They will accept orders for rubber grommets online, in person, via fax, or via telephone.
