A Look Inside the Diaper Caddy
73A caddy, in golf, is the person who carries a golfer’s bag, provide moral support and give insightful advice. A good caddy is knowledgeable of the obstacles and challenges of the golf course along with the best strategy in playing it. The Diaper caddy is a practical one-hand-reaches-all diapering solution. It allows mobility to attend to baby’s need from one room to the next. The diaper caddy is the parents’ toolbox to keep all of the essentials and the parents’ handyman. It does not only provide comfort but it also provides moral support, as it understands the challenges and obstacles of diaper changing.
A diaper caddy includes a basket having a generally upstanding U-shaped handle attached to a rectangular body and a pad having moisture resistance surface. A good diaper caddy is spacious enough to hold all diapering essentials and a few extras.
Let us take a look into these essentials:
Diapers
A diaper, also called a nappy, is a sponge-like garment that people use when they are incapable of controlling their bladder or bowel movements or are unable to use the toilet. Diapers are commonly used from birth until the baby is toilet trained. Replacing a soiled diaper with a fresh one is important to avoid skin irritation. This process requires a second person and is called diaper changing or diapering. Diapering is a bonding time for the child and the parent. A diaper caddy makes this bonding special by making it easy for the parent to change or clean their child by just single-handedly reaching out for their diapering needs. Diapers are a necessary component of the diaper caddy.
Cotton Balls / Wipes
Cotton balls or wipes are used to clean babies. They are made from cotton and can be used for cosmetic and medical purposes. A diaper caddy has plenty of space for cotton balls and/ or baby wipes.
Burp Cloths
This is a piece of cloth used by the parents when burping their child. Since babies are subject to accumulation of gas in the stomach while feeding, this causes discomfort to the child unless burped. Burping is the act wherein a child is placed in a position conducive to gas expulsion, usually on the adult’s shoulder, chest or lap, and then lightly patting on the lower back until the child burps. A diaper caddy has a special pocket to hold 2 to 3 burp cloths.
Changing Pad
A changing pad is where the baby is laid for changing. It should have at least one moisture resistance surface and is big enough to cover the spot where the lower body of the baby is placed. Usually, a diaper caddy comes with a handy removable changing pad.
Lotion
Baby lotion helps protect baby’s skin from dryness. The fast absorbing formula of baby lotions are rich with emollients that leave baby’s skin feeling soft, smooth and not greasy. A special pocket for lotion is usually found either on the corner or at side pockets of the diaper caddy.

Diaper Rash Cream spreads smoothly and wipes off easily. This cream should be applied with each diaper change. Diaper Rash Cream should be hypoallergenic and fragrance free. This cream easily fits into the special pockets of the diaper caddy. A less expensive substitute for the diaper rash cream is the Petroleum Jelly.
No matter how expensive the diaper caddy and its contents are, it is still the quality of time that the parent and the child share that matters most. Presence of mind is needed at all times. A diaper caddy is made to make parents’ lives easier to change their baby’s diaper, but it certainly does not make the need to change the diaper go away.
